Two years ago (2024)…this month I started the HoodGeek journey. The team was hired, the studio was built out, the equipment was ready… everything was in place.
But life had other plans…
While I was trying to push forward, my heart was heavy because my brother was dying from lung cancer. On June 1st, 2024 he passed away. I tried to keep pressing through, but every time I sat down to reflect on my story and record… I couldn’t help but think about him.
Then just when I thought I might be ready to move again, six months later my beloved grandmother passed away.
I’ve been through a lot in life… but I had never experienced grief like that before. It sat on me heavy and honestly it stifled me for about a year.
My family and friends ask me at least twice a month, “What’s the hold up on HoodGeek? When is the first episode dropping?”
And I always say the same thing… “It’s coming.”
Truth is, I had a chip on my shoulder… just not in the way it should’ve been. Instead of channeling it into creating, I was still healing.
But something has shifted.
I’m inspired again.
